Sr. Castro,

Me dirijo a usted en la oportunidad de responder a las alusiones que hizo de mí en sus Reflexiones sobre “La Genialidad de Chávez” del 26 de enero pasado.
Me referiré a dos aspectos de su escrito: el que se refiere a mi intervención en la Asamblea Nacional y el relativo a sus opiniones sobre la política venezolana. El presidente Chávez intentó usar su presentación en la Asamblea para dos propósitos muy evidentes. En primer lugar, para mostrar un país de paz y prosperidad que no existe. Venezuela, con todos sus recursos humanos y naturales, vive los embates de la pobreza, el crimen y la humillación; en segundo lugar, quiso utilizar a los diputados de la oposición para mostrar al mundo un juego democrático que ha sido vulnerado por su gobierno, mediante el control abusivo de todas las instituciones del Estado y la represión hacia la disidencia.

Frente a esta manipulación y la indignación que me produjo, tomé la palabra para denunciar que no existe ese país que describió Chávez y que, por el contrario, está signado por la escasez y el racionamiento, el crimen desatado y la acción vil e impune del Estado, que roba la propiedad privada mediante la figura de las expropiaciones. Por eso, cuando pronuncié la frase “expropiar es robar”, los venezolanos en su mayoría, sobre todo los más humildes, se sintieron expresados. No fueron frases que pusieron a prueba, como usted dice de Chávez, “su caballerosidad y sangre fría”, sino su engaño y el teatro que escenificaba hasta el momento de mi exposición.

Usted asegura que “solo él fue capaz de responder con serenidad al insultante calificativo de ‘ladrón’ que ella utilizó para juzgar la conducta del Presidente por las leyes y medidas adoptadas”. Yo dije que expropiar es robar y lo sostengo. Fue el propio presidente Chávez quien se autocalificó de “ladrón” al asumir personalmente la responsabilidad de las expropiaciones, que son robos apenas revestidos de un barniz jurídico en el régimen actual.

Tan importante es la propiedad que después de medio siglo, Cuba, de la mano de su hermano y Presidente, la ha redescubierto en su programa de reformas.

Tampoco es verdad que, como usted asegura, Chávez “respondió a la solicitud individual de un debate con una frase elegante y sosegada “Águila no caza moscas”, y sin añadir una palabra, prosiguió serenamente su exposición.” En ese momento el presidente Chávez perdió la compostura, su manoseada frase sobre águilas y moscas es una grosera manifestación de desprecio hacia sus interlocutores, que fue aderezada con una expresión según la cual yo no tengo “ranking” para debatir con él. Sólo un déspota considera que un parlamentario elegido por el pueblo no tiene credenciales para discutir con el presidente de su país.

Pero en el fondo tiene razón el Presidente Chávez: él y yo estamos en niveles muy distantes en cuanto a la moral y los principios.

Lo que usted, señor Castro, elude, es que mi interpelación al presidente Chávez expresó lo que un país hastiado de un régimen autocrático quiere decirle. Estas opiniones suyas no pasarían de ser la consabida lisonja que usted suele prodigar de tiempo en tiempo a Chávez si no fuera porque se atreve a incursionar en el debate político venezolano, como muestra del intervencionismo sistemático de su gobierno en los asuntos internos de mi país.

Señor Castro, usted intervino en Venezuela en la década de los 60, cuando personal militar a su servicio pretendió imponer un régimen en Venezuela como el que usted impuso en su país. Las autoridades civiles y las Fuerzas Armadas de entonces lo derrotaron a usted, del mismo modo que las democracias latinoamericanas lo hicieron en toda la región. Su agresión causó muertes, incluyendo la de tantos jóvenes venezolanos que se hicieron ilusiones con su revolución. Más adelante, una vez derrotado y abandonado por la Unión Soviética, los demócratas latinoamericanos le abrieron a su régimen las puertas a la comunidad regional a condición de que iniciara un proceso de democratización. Uno de los que le facilitó ese reingreso fue el presidente Carlos Andrés Pérez, con quien usted se solidarizó cuando ocurrió el golpe de Estado del teniente coronel Hugo Chávez. Los venezolanos recordamos la carta suya al presidente Pérez en la que le decía: “En este momento amargo y crítico, recordamos con gratitud todo lo que has contribuido al desarrollo de las relaciones bilaterales entre nuestros países y tu sostenida posición de comprensión y respeto hacia Cuba. Confío en que la dificultades serán superadas totalmente y se preserve el orden constitucional, así como tu liderazgo al frente de los destinos de la hermana República de Venezuela”.

Así se desmarcaba usted del golpe de estado de Chávez y expresaba su solidaridad al entonces Presidente, cuando su interés era retornar de algún modo a la comunidad latinoamericana debido a que los soviéticos habían dejado a su país sin oxígeno.

Sin embargo, más adelante encontraría un nuevo auxilio. Usted se prestó a darle una credencial revolucionaria a quien no habría pasado de ser uno más de los militares golpistas de América Latina a cambio de recibir colosales recursos de nuestro país que le son negados a los ciudadanos venezolanos. Si en los 60 usted invadió a nuestro país en contra de la voluntad de su liderazgo civil y de las FAN, ahora lo hace porque el gobierno del presidente Chávez le ha entregado nuestra soberanía. Su ataque a Rómulo Betancourt no puede ocultar un hecho que está inscrito en la historia: Betancourt lo derrotó a usted política y militarmente, su reconcomio por esta fatalidad es evidente.

No podía esperarse en sus consideraciones nada distinto al reconocimiento al general Henry Rangel Silva, recientemente promovido al cargo de ministro de Defensa de Venezuela. Es un militar cuestionado nacional e internacionalmente; en el exterior por supuestos vínculos con la guerrilla y el narcotráfico; dentro de Venezuela por haber amenazado en no reconocer el triunfo de las fuerzas democráticas en las próximas elecciones. Este oficial no representa a los militares institucionales de Venezuela, ni la protesta mayoritaria de éstos en contra de la invasión cubana a nuestra FAN.

Usted ha invocado muchas veces como razón de su rebelión en la década de los 50 la intervención de los EEUU en su país durante más de la mitad del siglo XX. Usted ha sido crítico de la forma en la que los soviéticos, a sus espaldas, negociaron a Cuba en el marco de la Guerra Fría. Muchos cubanos todavía resienten la grosera participación de los soviéticos en la dirección del Estado cubano durante tres décadas. Usted, que sabe eso, podría imaginarse la indignación que produce a los venezolanos ver a cubanos enviados por su gobierno en las más altas esferas del Estado, en las instalaciones militares, en el Palacio presidencial, en los cuerpos de seguridad, en registros y notarías. Imagine la humillación que sienten los oficiales de la Fuerza Armada Nacional Bolivariana al recibir órdenes de extranjeros como los oficiales cubanos, quienes invaden nuestras instalaciones militares.

Venezuela ha sustituido a la Unión Soviética como sostén de Cuba, mientras aquí hay miles de refugiados que vieron sus viviendas destruirse y el gobierno no ha hecho nada para remediarles su situación. Su gobierno recibe –que se sepa– más de 110 mil barriles diarios de nuestro petróleo en forma de regalo, supuestamente compensado con servicios que no valen lo que cuesta producir el petróleo. Su régimen hace triangulaciones de negocios que encarecen lo que Venezuela importa y les permiten a ustedes una grosera e innecesaria tajada de comisiones. Chávez y ustedes han logrado que lo que ha sido la tradicional amistad entre cubanos y venezolanos, hoy esté atravesada por el resentimiento y la sospecha. Esa amistad volverá pero una vez que cese la invasión de funcionarios de su país al nuestro.

Usted invocó en su revolución la necesidad de luchar contra los cipayos que en su país propiciaron la intervención foránea durante décadas. Nosotros hoy luchamos contra los cipayos que en Venezuela han propiciado la intervención del gobierno cubano en la dirección de nuestro Estado y nuestra sociedad.

En el futuro seremos países amigos pero jamás aceptaremos la permanencia del status-quo que les ha permitido la anexión institucional de nuestro país al suyo. Tenga la seguridad de que mi gobierno estará comprometido con el pleno retorno de la democracia a Cuba.

Comandante Castro, deje de intervenir en los asuntos internos de Venezuela. Hágalo de buen grado o las fuerzas democráticas de Venezuela se lo volverán hacer entender como hace 50 años.

Y es que la apuesta de sus creadores incluye una Red Social, con la que personas de todo el mundo puedan compartir su espiritualidad, enmarcados en un ambiente plácido y solemne.

    Political Transition in Cuba.

Everything is going as Fidel planned, transitioning his undisputed power to his brother Raul seems to be going without a hitch, and not that he would allow any hitch, or allow his subservient brother to make any changes that would challenge his 50 year grip and autonomous rule on his Island nation. We must remember what he has touted over and over as Cuba’s objective, “Socialismo o Muerte”, “Patria o Muerte”. “Socialism or Death”, “Patriotism or Death”. After three years of this so called transfer of power Cuba’s objectives and tyrannical ways have stayed the same, there’s been no change to speak of. Fidel has exchanged his seat at the head of the Politburo due to his age and failing health for a seat at a desk, and now writes his memoirs under the guise of self patronizing, self retrospect, reiterated, and rhetorical essays on the success of his revolution and the failure of the US to recognize it, and younger brother Raul is beginning to feel his oats under a rapidly fading and ailing Fidel. Something he was not allowed to feel for the past 50 plus years

With this in mind we must remember that little brothers transition into pseudo power did not occur overnight, but through decades of communist indoctrination at the hands of the world’s longest lasting dictator, big brother Fidel.    The meek and mild look that we see strewn across Raul Castro’s face whenever we see photos of him is not one of kindness and compassion as the pictures might suggest, but that of a shrewd man who has learned well under the tutelage of his older brothers overpowering alpha male personality. Instead the face is that of a man who fears his older brother but acquired his savvy and now enjoys being in charge and garnering the fear of his countrymen and accolades from ignorant foreign dignitaries such as Hugo Chavez. The same fears and accolades that once belonged to his older brother. But he himself still fears the consequences that he might incur if older brother’s words are not followed to a tee. Change, I don’t think so.

Let’s not forget that at the onset of the revolution one of Fidel’s closest comrades “Camilo Cienfuegos” disappeared in a mysterious plane crash, most people in the know think it was an assassination upon the orders of Fidel simply because Camilo did not agree with Fidel’s political philosophy, or the road he was paving for Cuba and its already unstable situation. Rumors also ran rampant that Fidel had something to do with “Che Guevara’s” death in Bolivia. Che was getting to many headlines, becoming too famous, and Fidel was not happy with the Argentinean gathering a following. Are we to believe that Raul Castro was not aware of these atrocities, or what his arrogant, overbearing, dais slamming older brother was capable of? There are countless examples throughout history of brother killing brother over power issues. Change! I think not.

The look on Raul’s face is one of fear and retribution if big brother Fidel’s words and orders are not adhered to their entirety. He is now enjoying the fruits that Fidel so well sewed years ago but was never allowed to fully enjoy until Fidel’s deteriorating health. Cuba is still the same, and Raul the puppet is feeling freer with some of his strings being cut loose, and now his egotistical bravado and arrogance is beginning to show through, but to date he is still only a figure head at the hands of an aging puppeteer who is hiding behind the curtain like the Wizard of OZ hiding himself but continuing his tyrannical ways.

You don’t have to go far in Cuba to see the expressions of fear; just look to the faces of the people who have lived under that grip of oppression for the last 50 years, those expressions haven’t changed under Raul. I think little brother Raul is feeling the heat a little more than he’d like to from behind the curtain, and the realization of the wrath that he will be subjected to if he doesn’t do as told are all too real to him, so he maintains things status quo. Only now he is the one receiving the pats on the back from the ignorant leftist and communist of the world. He is a reluctant figure head at the behest of his older brother, he was not asked if he wanted the position, he was told to do it, and do it as told. The puppeteer is never far away from the mealy mouthed little puppet.

Examining some of Cuba’s so called political changes since the transfer of power to Raul Castro only adds to the ongoing comic relief that the Cuban people both in and out of Cuba have become accustomed to. As a nation and a people who have lived under the gun for more than 50 years Cubans have learned to take a bad situation and turn it into a joke so as not to be weighed down my more rhetoric and lies from the central Politburo. Laughing in the face of the odds that are stacked against them and not allowing their absurd living standards and ridiculous political system which has failed them for those 50 plus years has become their form of escape.

Just take a look at past and present history; there’s something to the fact that the Cuban Peso has no value anywhere in the world except Cuba, and even there, the Dollar and the Euro are the preferred currency. There’s a reason why the world banking system won’t extend any credit to Cuba, and that is because it won’t be paid back, just ask the defunct U.S.S.R.

Amazing, can one really believe that if there is fiscal stagnation, social deterioration, and the complete inability to provide the basics of life to a people in need is any kind of progress, I think not. When a leadership fails to provide and does not allow its people the freedom of choice, then it is an oppressive leadership.

I’m sure I have not awakened anyone to this realization on the Cuban situation, but then again no one should think that under Raul Castro things will get any better. Human rights are still nonexistent, freedom of speech is a jailable offense, and arrests are up.

Change in Cuba under Raul; see for yourself, I think not. Until the regime is gone, or better put, the Castro brothers are dead and free elections are allowed to take place along with a monetary system that will allow individual progress and expansion, then the road to change in Cuba will be slow and arduous at best,  if not at all.

The traditional dresser is just what you are thinking of, the longer dresser that usually has six drawers or so that are in sets of three drawers side by side. These are very functional dressers and often the kind people think of when they are decorating a bedroom.

When it comes to construction features, traditional dressers take up more floor space than other options, as they are short and long. This is ok as long as you have a lot of floor space.

There are also other benefits of this type of construction. That means you have more space on the top of the dresser to do other things with. You could attach a mirror to the back of the dresser to offer a lot of space for seeing how you look at the beginning of the day. Another option is to stack other furniture pieces atop and create even more storage space in the room.

High Boy

If you are limited on floor space or just don’t want to waste it on a long dresser that eats up a whole wall, you may want to instead look into a different kind of dresser like a highboy. Instead of being a wide dresser that goes down a wall, a high boy is a tall dresser that goes up the wall. Think of your traditional dresser cut down the middle and the pieces stacked on each other and you have the picture.

These are great for smaller floor plans, open floor plans or if you have many other furniture pieces you want to have in a room.

Armoire

The final option is an armoire. An armoire is usually a large piece of furniture but can be used for any of a number of purposes. Generally these have a top with cabinets that can close and drawers underneath. Often the top can have drawers in it as well, but the closing cabinets allow a more attractive presentation. These are also a good place to hide things like electronics and your TV to be able to put them away when not using them.

In its palm fringed avenues with scantily dressed residents Miami has become the dream commission of world known designers particularly in the downtown and beach areas. The buildings are lively with airy and spacious connections becoming world renown and are constantly reinventing themselves while holding on to its cultural influence.
Carl fisher got the credit for Miami Beaches’ adaptation of Mediterranean architecture and soon after architects influenced by the Art Deco movement of Europe moved to the Magic city to apply their designs to the tropical feel and look of the city. The buildings became streamlined with a nautical flair that accompanied the sea, sun and surf. The hum drum of the past was out and the new and bold became its signature. The materials of the past were put aside for a newer and lighter look with the use of Stucco, Terrazzo and glass to name a few.
From the Mangrove swamps and Palm, Pine, and live Oak forests Miami was transformed into a visual paradise dreamed up from the minds of innovative and forward thinking designers willing to let go of the norm. Miami’s architecture was not only functional but became visually sensual to enjoy at every turn which brought tourists in by the millions creating its well known pedestrian atmosphere.
Recently Miami’s architecture with its resident icons, the Fontainebleau Hotel and the Eden Roc were renamed – MiMo – for Miami Modern.
     But in this modern age of travel and easy access too many destinations, and the economical collapse of the 70’s and 80’s Miami lost its luster and some of its influence. In the late 70’s Miami’s Art Deco district of the past was put on the National Historic Registry and the area was restored to prominence making it Chic and shifting thought back to the Magic City, once again bringing back people and value to the once forlorn area which had fallen into decay.
      Thanks in part to a new visually vibrant television show called “Miami Vice” that featured Miami as its backdrop, the city was revitalized and it brought back relevance and international attention, and the people came running to Miami once again.
     Pastel colored buildings and mirrored towers became what people thought of when they thought of Miami. It was edgy and experimental and a pleasure for everyone to gazed upon it.
     But the Magic Cities architecture wasn’t done, and through the 80’s and 90’s it was evolving once again and a big push to designate more areas as Historical was made and eventually named 11 more as such.
     Miami is a city which has always put civic pride first, thus designers have incorporated the indoors with the outdoors. Many world famous architectural firms such as Herzog and de Meuron to name one have helped change the landscape and look of the Magic City. For years the city committed itself to reclaiming public spaces like Lincoln Road in Miami Beach which became an outdoor living area for people to enjoy shopping while connecting with Mother Nature.
     Downtown Miami’s effervescent skyline meshed residential buildings with its multifaceted cultural makeup making it a place to enjoy with all your senses and a true one of a kind destination.
     The Miami art Museum is a great example of innovative design and is scheduled to open in 2013. It has incorporated large balconies with spacious outdoor spaces and multiple levels adding once again to the wonders of the city’s innovative designers making it unique in a world of copycat designers.
     The economic crisis which has gripped the world today has made waterfront properties which were once out of reach viable for purchase and developing, and Miami has become a prime location for developers again.
     A Malaysian firm recently purchased the land surrounding the Miami Herald building and is planning on creating a 3 billion dollar complex which will once again change the face of the Magic City in a new, innovative, and eye catching way incorporating residential, shopping, and public areas on the waterfront with spectacular views of the city and ocean beyond.
     A new and exciting group of designers are now building in Miami for the first time, and they’re not trying to recreate the Art Deco designs or the MiMo features of years past, but are adding to the skyline with a Latin American flavor and tropical feel. It won’t be the glitzy forms of yesteryear but a subtle balance which will be uniquely Miami, taking into consideration its cultural mix and paying much more attention to detail instead of flash and adapting its designs more to the city’s tropical surroundings and feel.
     Miami is refreshingly sophisticated and unique but does not take itself too seriously which will create a skyline that will be a joy to look at and its spaces  a wonder to live in, work in and relax in. The future of Miami’s architectural designs is in good hands. The tropical lushness which is Miami and the beautiful buildings will be a wonder for all to enjoy.

They are getting to a point in their life where those kiddie items that you have in place are not going to do it for them anymore. Now you need to move into purchasing more grown up bedroom furniture in Miami for your teen. Here’s a look at some of the items you will need to look at.

Entonces te preguntas: ¿Porque a otros se le dan las cosas que quieren y a mi no?

La respuesta es sencilla: Probablemente, ‘Tu’ le has dejado la tarea de traer cambios positivos a tu vida al azar de la buena fortuna, pensando que con desearlo es suficiente. Pero ese solo es el primer paso del camino…. El segundo es ubicar tu closet interno….. y el tercero es prepararlo para llenarlo de logros.

Según Nielsen, las redes sociales fue la categoría de más rápido crecimiento entre los usuarios de navegadores móviles, con un crecimiento de 240%. eMarketer estima que en 2015, la población de usuarios de redes sociales móviles llegarán a 79 millones. Los medios de comunicación Blue Fountain encontró que los estadounidenses gastan uno de cada seis minutos en línea utilizando una red social, que ofrecen los vendedores una gran oportunidad para aumentar su tiempo de exposición a través de las redes sociales móviles.
