As a former Miami wedding photographer, I’m always on the lookout for correct photographic technique when I attend the weddings of family and friends. Just because you have hired a “professional†photographer, it doesn’t mean that you will always get “professional†results. Here are some things to consider when you have engaged one of the many Miami photographers in this area:
Remember to have them take lots of photos of the same pose. When you hire a photographer in Miami, you definitely don’t want them to take a single photo of the bride and groom at the altar, from one angle, and then immediately go to another angle to take a photo. Instead, you want them to snap from 4-6 shots of each angle. This is especially true when it comes to the bride and groom. In the eventuality that one of the shots doesn’t get the right facial expression, etc., you’ll have backup photos to choose from.
You can find good, experienced Miami wedding photographers online through any major search engine. Just type in the keywords: photographer Miami and you’ll have quite a few to choose from. Just remember, don’t just choose a photographer based on price alone. Wedding photos are meant to last a lifetime. Look at samples of their work before making any decisions.
For group shots, you’ll want to make sure that everyone is on the same page and understands that a photo is being taken. There’s always that one photo where everyone is smiling, but there’s one relative in the corner who looks like they’re upset over something. This is usually because they weren’t prepared to be photographed! Tell everyone that they need to smile. You’d be surprised how often this happens and the photographer is too hesitant to be forceful about proper posing.
Another thing that I learned while working as a Miami photographer is to take a lot of candid shots. The advantage here is that no poses are needed and no direction will be indicated. The photographer (or you, for that matter) will mingle with guests and take a few shots. You don’t want the photographer there for the whole time, of course, just for a few planned short intervals. Just make sure to toss any photos that might be “unappealing†to family members and friends. This is especially true when alcoholic beverages are served.
Now that you have a better idea of what to look for, when observing your wedding photographer in Miami, you can relax and enjoy the festivities while knowing that you’ll have many fond memories, in the form of good quality photos, in the years to come.
